Filming or photographing Sydney Light Rail
Transdev Sydney is open to applications for filming and photography on or near the Sydney Light Rail network.
Before you apply using the form below, here’s what you need to know.
Requirements
- Applications for filming and photography are accepted during off-peak hours, from 10 am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. If your shoot falls outside these hours, just let us know in your application.
- Filming is prohibited in the Driver’s cabin, Control Room and Depots.
- Stay aware and follow instructions from our supervisory staff during your shoot.
- Ensure your crew doesn’t disrupt our operations, employees or the comfort or passage of Sydney Light Rail customers.
- Depending on your specific location, you may need to secure approval from the relevant authorities, as outlined in the diagram and chart below.
- All requests are subject to permit approval and a general safety briefing. Depending on the scope, an accredited Person In Charge Of Works may need to supervise the activity.
- Production companies are expected to adhere to the National Guidelines for Screen Safety and Rail Safety National Law National Regulations 2012.
- For commercial requests, include documentation demonstrating public liability insurance coverage of at least $20 million.
- If you’re a student, include a letter from your institution confirming that the filming is a bona fide part of your academic studies.
Approval process and fees
Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may take up to 10 business days to process.
Approved applications are subject to non-refundable processing fees and charges that will be determined at our discretion. These fees and charges will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and reflect the complexity of the request, crew size, support requirements, filming duration, time of day and location.
At a minimum the following fees and charges will apply for filming activities.

Once approved, relevant authorities contacted, permits obtained, and fees paid, Transdev Sydney will collaborate with you to confirm logistics and provide a contact person for the day. The production crew must carry a copy of the Transdev Sydney Film and Photography Agreement during filming.
Disruptions and contingencies
The safety and needs of our customers are our top priority. In the event of network disruptions, we are committed to collaborating with you for a smooth resolution. This includes accommodating rescheduling requests, especially if unforeseen circumstances like wet weather or other disruptions hinder filming on the initially agreed-upon date.
